Victim Assistance Program
The Eastlake Police Victims Assistance Program, started in 1989, was the first police-based victim assistance program in Ohio. The program has a full-time program director and full-time victim advocate, both certified through the Ohio Advocate network and/or the National Advocate Credentialing Program. Advocates strive to:
- Provide immediate crisis intervention to victims at the police station, hospital or at the scene
- Offer court accompaniment and assistance in obtaining protection orders
- Notify victims of their rights and options
- Assist victims with crime compensation forms, victim impact statements and the automated victim notification system application
- Offer guidance, information and referral
- Facilitate the Parent Project (a group for parents of strong-willed or out-of-control teens)
- Conduct a Monday night support group for women who are in or have been in an unhealthy or abusive relationship
An advocate may be reached at 440-951-1400 (station) or 440-975-4252 (office), or by email.
