It’s a close shave for officers from Eastlake and Willoughby Police Departments
Officer Brad Lampella of the Willoughby Police Department, Officer Gary Hotchkiss and Detective Kris Korun both of Eastlake Police Department get their beards trimmed by Kayla Reik, Allison Chlad and Samantha Zaller, all seniors in Willoughby-Eastlake’s Northern Career Institute Cosmetology program. The three officers each participated in No-Shave November, an event where their departments permitted them to grow facial hair for a contribution to the department’s charities.
According to Eastlake Police chief Larry Reik, it was a collaborative effort between the police department and the school that served multiple purposes: the students gain experience, the officers get clean shaven and it get the school involved with the police departments.
“It’s always good to get the schools and the police involved in a positive way,”Reik said. “It keeps relationships open with the teachers and the administrators.”
