Council President Mr. D’Ambrosio opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m.

ATTENDEES

Members of Council in attendance were Mr. Licht, Mrs. Quinn-Hopkins, Mr. Evers, Mr. Hoefle, Ms. Vaughn and Council President Mr. D’Ambrosio. Also attending was Council Clerk Mrs. Cendroski. Ms. DePledge was late in arriving.

Those attending from the Administration were Mayor Morley, Law Director Klammer, Finance Director Slocum, City Engineer Gwydir, CBO McReynolds, Police Chief Reik and Fire Chief Whittington. Service Director Rubertino was absent and excused.

LEGISLATION PROPOSED:

04-22-(01): May, 2014: Arthritis awareness month

Mr. D’Ambrosio: This is something we have done a couple of times. As some of you may know I live with rheumatoid arthritis. There are over 100 different types of arthritis. Arthritis is a blanket term for fibromyalgia, polymyalgia, lupus, Chromes disease, and osteoarthritis, etc. The City of Eastlake is recognizing Arthritis Awareness Month for the month of May. Chances are everyone here knows someone who lives with some type of arthritis. This will appear on the evening’s agenda.

MISCELLANEOUS:

SUPPORT RESOLUTION: STATE ISSUE 1: CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM

Mr. D’Ambrosio: Mayor Morley?

Mayor Morley: We sent over the State Issue 1. Commissioner Troy spoke with me about it. State Issue 1 is on the ballot for renewal. The City of Eastlake has received funds for improvements from this since 1991. The Commissioner has asked that we send this supporting resolution to him so he can present it to the State. This issue has provided $250 million worth of projects since 1987 and it continues to help all communities.

Mr. D’Ambrosio: We received funding for 33 different projects from this program. I think it is a great thing and hopefully it will be renewed and we can get more funding for some of the infrastructure projects in the City.

Mr. Slocum: The program provides zero interest rate loans
