LEGISLATION PROPOSED:

06-23-(01): New Enactment: Codified Ordinance Chapter 769 “Donation/Recycling Bins”

Mr. D’Ambrosio: This new enactment was discussed in the June 16th Ordinance Committee meeting. Mr. Hoefle?

Mr. Hoefle: The Ordinance Committee met last Tuesday, June 16th for discussion of the new enactment of Chapter 769 “Donation/Recycling Bins.” These are located throughout the City and we will be putting some stipulations and guidelines on them. They will be in the B-1 District – Vine Street and a small portion of Lakeshore Blvd. Mayor, do you have something to add?

Mayor Morley: This came about because we have had continuing issues on Lakeshore Blvd. and Vine Street. I thank the Clerk for contacting 6-8 cities. We made legislation that best fits our City. Mr. Menn’s Department will be able to track the bins and have a contact number. Even though they post an 800 number on the bin it is hard to reach people. I would like to use the permit format used by Oakwood Village because it lists all the information and contact numbers needed.

Mr. D’Ambrosio: Wasn’t there something for charities and churches?

Mayor Morley: Yes, churches and schools will not have to pull permits because the bins are on their property.

There were no further questions or comments.
