Maintenance Person
Class Summary:
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing daily maintenance, manual cleaning tasks and repairs in conjunction with the maintenance of municipal facilities; is responsible for City Hall and other municipal buildings as necessary.
Essential Duties:
Core Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Proven experience as a maintenance worker or technician.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general repair procedures.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Tools: Proficient in operating hand tools, electrical tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read/interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work on feet for long periods of time.
- Licenses: Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
Key Soft Skills & Certifications:
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting abilities to diagnose issues.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for reporting.
- Flexibility: Availability to work weekend, holidays, or on-call shifts.
- Certifications: HVAC certification (EPA), plumbing, or electrical certifications are highly preferred.
